Mobile Phone Plans

Finding the right type of mobile phone plan can seem a bit overwhelming, but once you are made aware of the breakdown of different mobile phone plan types, they become much easier to sort through. Below are the main types of mobile phone plans, with a short description of each.

Contracted Mobile Phone Plans

These type of mobile phone plans require the user to purchase usage of the service usually for a period of one or two years. Because of the length of the plans, they usually come with some sort of incentive – either free accessories or a discounted price. Often companies will also provide updated phones at the end of a contracted period. A contracted mobile phone plan is usually the best plan for a person who will not be travelling much, or would have use for a family plan.

Monthly Mobile Phone Plans

These type of mobile phone plans require the user to purchase usage of the service by the month. These plans provide the user with much more flexibility than contract plans, and are good for people testing out a service or for people who travel, especially for extended business abroad.

Prepaid Mobile Phone Plans

These type of mobile phone plans require the user to purchase usage of the service only when the user is in need of the service. Many times these plans will require the purchase of credits which can be redeemed for phone use. Users who do not use mobile phones as much will probably find the most this plan the most useful for their reduced needs. This type of plan also tends to attract mobile phone users on a budget, as they only need to pay for mobile phone service when they are truly in need of it.

Rented Mobile Phone Plans

These type of mobile phone plans do not require the user to purchase usage of the service, but only rent the equipment necessary for service for a specified period of time. The mobile phone can then be used for the time that the equipment is rented. This is also a great plan for travellers, because of its low commitment and ease of use.
