HOW DO I USE THE MOBILE INTERNET?
If you've never surfed the Internet from your mobile phone before it's a perfect time to start.
Connecting to the Mobile Internet
Most new phones have a ‘Mobile Internet’ or ‘Mobile Web’ button that connects you to the Mobile Internet.
You can visit your mobile carrier's portal (also known as On Deck) or one of the many other sites available for you to explore on the Mobile Internet (this is known as Off Deck).

The mobile carrier portal provides you with links to mobile sites you can visit, just like the home page on your computer. And there's some useful stuff there - news, weather etc.
These Mobile sites are only available to customers of that mobile carrier, so if you're an Optus customer, you can't access information on Telstra's BigPond portal and vice versa.
But just like the Internet on a computer, there's a wealth of information available beyond the carrier's portal that anyone with a web enabled mobile phone can access. You can access Off-Deck mobile sites by ‘surfing’ the Mobile Internet - either by search engine or by entering URLs or addresses - just like in your computer's web browser.
Can I access the Mobile Internet?
You can with a mobile phone set up to access the Mobile Internet.
Most new phones are already set up. Try typing this Mobile Internet address into your phone

If you see the thumbs up logo then you're good to go!
However, there are some mobiles that need to be manually configured so they can access the Mobile Internet. The easiest way to do this is to ask the sales staff to set your phone up for the Mobile Internet when you buy your phone.
If you have a mobile phone with a black and white screen in may not be able to access the Mobile Internet. Perhaps it's time to upgrade your phone!
